About

About this site: one hotel, written about carefully

Pyrmont Bay Stays covers a single hotel, The Star Grand in Pyrmont, and the neighbourhood around it. We started in 2026.

Why one hotel

A guide to a hundred hotels can only skim. Covering one lets us read every page the hotel publishes, check the theatre and the market and the transport operators, and say clearly where the published information stops. The day-and-night idea comes from the place itself: Pyrmont at noon and Pyrmont at midnight are two different neighbourhoods, and most guests experience both.

How we work

Sources first. The hotel's own pages, then the operators around it (Foundation Theatres, Sydney Fish Market, the maritime museum), then government (NSW Independent Casino Commission, GambleAware NSW, Infrastructure NSW, City of Sydney). Wikipedia only for history, and marked as such.
Dates on everything. Prices and hours carry the date we read them. The current round of checks was done on 1 November 2026.
No invented voices. We do not publish made-up guest reviews, quotes or testimonials.
Illustrations, labelled. The pictures are illustrations, not photographs of the hotel, and every caption says so.

By day

Our days are spent reading: the hotel's pages, timetables, venue listings, regulators' releases.

When two official pages disagree, we print both and say which one we followed.

By night

Our evenings are spent answering requests that came in through the form.

We answer every one, even when it ends with 'book directly, it is cheaper'.

What we are not

We are not the hotel, not The Star Sydney, and not connected with The Star Entertainment Group. We do not run or promote gambling, and nothing on this site concerns online gambling. Our income is described on money matters.

This is a request, not a booking. Our desk checks the dates and the rate with the hotel's own reservations or a booking partner and answers by email; nobody asks for card details here. This site is paid a commission by the hotel or its booking partner when a request sent here turns into a confirmed stay. You pay nothing to us. How the money works.
