Residences: when a hotel room is not enough
Next to the hotel, the same team runs apartment-style suites with one, two or three bedrooms. They share the Level 5 pool and gym, the 3pm check-in and the 11am check-out.
The Star pitches the residences at business travellers, longer stays and families. In practice that means balconies, island benches with sinks, and in the bigger units a toaster, crockery and cutlery. The office version is the one to pick if you will work from the apartment: a door between the desk and the rest of your stay is rare in a city hotel. The harbour version trades the office for a view and a bath.
By day
Daytime in a residence feels like living in Pyrmont rather than visiting it. Buy fruit and bread on the way back from the fish market and eat on the balcony.
The gym on Level 5 (named Turbines Health Club on the residences page) opens at 6am.
By night
In the evening you have a choice the hotel rooms do not give you: stay in. The island bench and mini bar make a quiet night easy.
From the harbour-view suite, the city lights are the show. The Pyrmont-view suites look over the peninsula itself.
Rules that are the same as the hotel
- Check-in 3pm, check-out 11am, express check-out; bags held if you arrive early.
- Rollaway beds $80 per night, one per suite at most; cots on request (as listed on 1 November 2026).
- Smoke free, including balconies; a breach in a residence costs a $550 cleaning fee.
- No pets, no parties.
