The routes
From Sydney Airport (SYD) by train and light rail
Take the airport train from the terminal station to Central, then the L1 Dulwich Hill light rail, which runs from Central via Darling Harbour to The Star stop seven days a week. No official door-to-door time is published.
From Sydney Airport by car or taxi
By road you arrive at The Star's car park (Pirrama Road or Edward Street) or, with valet, The Star Driveaway from Jones Bay Road. Vehicles over 2.0 metres cannot use the car park.
From Central Station
The L1 light rail leaves from Central and stops at The Star. The Sydney Fish Market's visitor page says the L1 runs every 6–10 minutes on weekdays and every 10–15 minutes on weekends and in the evenings.
From Town Hall Station on foot
The Sydney Lyric, inside the complex, gives the walk from Town Hall Station as 20 minutes.
From Circular Quay by ferry
The F4 Pyrmont Bay ferry stops at Pyrmont Bay Wharf, which the Sydney Lyric puts five minutes' walk from the theatre. The Star says ferries from Circular Quay run seven days a week.
Buses, rideshare and taxis
- Bus route 389 runs to Pyrmont; the Sydney Lyric also lists the 501. Buses stop in front of The Star or nearby.
- Rideshare: The Star has two Uber zones. One is on Pyrmont Street at The Star Grand Hotel entrance, on the west of the precinct; the other is at the Harbourside exit on the Pyrmont Bay side, to the east. Follow the 'Uber rideshare zone' signs.
- Taxis and rideshare cars are readily available outside The Star, according to the Sydney Lyric.
- The Star Express coach service to the suburbs is temporarily suspended.
- Bicycles can be parked on Level P3 of the car park, through the Pirrama Road entrance.
By day
Arriving by day, the light rail is the calm option: the stop is under the complex, and you come up without dragging a case along the street.
The ferry is the scenic one. From Circular Quay, you see the harbour before you see the hotel.
By night
Arriving late, rideshare to the Pyrmont Street zone puts you at the hotel's own entrance rather than in the middle of the complex.
If you come back from the city on foot at night, Pyrmont Bridge is pedestrian-only and the direct line from the CBD to Pyrmont.

Step-free access
The Star says disabled parking bays are close to the car park entrance lobbies and that all its restrooms are accessible. For the Sydney Lyric, the theatre recommends The Star Car Park as the best accessible parking, about five minutes' walk with ramp access, and a drop-off zone at the Harbourside entrance on Pirrama Road with lift or escalator access.
