Rooms and suites
Six ways to sleep at The Star Grand
The hotel splits its 309 rooms, suites and penthouses into six categories. Here is what each one includes in the hotel's own words, and what it leaves unsaid.
Two things are worth knowing before you compare. First, the two Superior rooms and the Premium Suite are described as newly designed, while the Star Suites still carry an older list of features. Second, only the Royal Suites come with a published floor area. If size or view matters to you, mention it in your request and our desk will ask.
| Category | Beds | Bathroom | Layout |
|---|---|---|---|
| Superior King | 1 king | Marble, walk-in shower | Bedroom and living in one space |
| Superior Twin | 2 doubles | Marble, walk-in shower | Bedroom and living in one space |
| Premium Suite | 1 king | Bath and walk-in shower, powder room | Separate bedroom and living room |
| Star Suites | Not specified | Not specified | Separate lounge room |
| Royal Suites | Not specified | 'Spacious bathrooms' | Duplex, 146 m², kitchen, drawing room |
| Penthouses | 2 bedrooms | Ensuite, sauna, spa bath | Split level, full kitchen |
What every room shares
Wherever you sleep, check-in is from 3pm and check-out is at 11am, with express check-out. You can leave bags at reception if you land early. The whole building, residences included, has been smoke free since 1 September 2022, and that covers balconies too. Pets are not allowed, and the hotel runs a no-party policy.
By day
In daylight the standard rooms work as a base: a bench seat at the window, a coffee pod machine, and the pool upstairs on Level 5.
If you plan to spend the day out, the Superior rooms give you what you need and nothing you will pay for and not use.
By night
After dark the suites earn their price: a separate living room means one of you can sleep while the other reads, and the Premium Suite adds a bath.
For a celebration, the Royal Suites and Penthouses are the only categories with a kitchen and room to host.
And if you need more space
The Star Grand Residences sit under the same management and share the Level 5 pool and gym. They are apartments with kitchens and balconies, in one, two and three-bedroom layouts, and are often the better answer for families or longer stays. See the residences and the family apartments.

Extra beds and children
Rollaway beds cost $80 a night (as listed on 1 November 2026), with a maximum of one per room or suite. Cots are available. Both depend on availability, so the hotel asks you to book them ahead; if you send a request through us, tell us in the notes and we will ask for it at the same time as the room.
