Bars and late hours
After dark: which doors stay open, and until when
When the light goes, The Star turns into a night venue. This page is for planning the evening: where the bars are, which nights they open, and when they close.
Three of the bars sit on Level 1 inside the casino, which means 18+ only, proof of age if asked, and the casino dress standard. The others are attached to restaurants. All hours below are from the venues' own pages on 1 November 2026.
| Bar | Where | Hours |
|---|---|---|
| Cherry | Level 1, casino | Thursday 5–11pm; Friday and Saturday 5pm–1am |
| Rock Lily | Level 1, casino | Thursday to Saturday 7pm–midnight |
| Jade Rabbit | Level 1, casino | Wednesday and Thursday 6pm–midnight; Friday to Sunday 6pm–2am |
| Sokyo Bar | The Darling, Level G | Monday to Thursday 3–10pm; Friday to Sunday 12–11pm |
| Black Bar | Harbourside, Level G | Wednesday and Thursday 5–11pm; Friday to Sunday 12–3pm and 5–11pm |
| G&Tea | Star Grand lobby, Level G | Daily 7am–8pm |
| Sports Bar | Main gaming floor | Open 24/7 |
By day
Not every evening starts in a bar. G&Tea in the hotel lobby calls itself a tea house by day and a gin palace by night, and closes at 8pm, early enough to be the first drink rather than the last.
The Star runs a happy hour from 4 to 6pm every day in selected venues.
By night
Cherry is the one with the skyline: cocktails, house DJs and city views, open late on Friday and Saturday.
Rock Lily is the live-music room, with themed nights; in November 2026 it lists a Calvin Harris night on the 7th and a boy bands versus girl bands night on the 14th. Jade Rabbit, which The Star calls its new casino bar, stays open the latest, until 2am from Friday to Sunday.
If you want the night without the casino
The bars outside the gaming areas close earlier. Sokyo Bar and Black Bar are the late-ish options away from the casino floor, both open until 11pm on weekends. For a walk after dinner, the waterfront is right there: Pyrmont Bay Park and the path toward Pyrmont Bridge, and in November 2026 Darling Harbour runs a free Latin dance night every Friday at Palm Grove on the far side of the bridge. Our night guide to Pyrmont has more.
Before you go out
- Bring photo ID if you look young enough to be asked: the casino may require 'acceptable proof of age' under the Casino Control Regulation 2019.
- The dress standard is 'neat and tidy'; sleeveless tops for men, ripped or soiled clothing (designer rips excepted) and offensive slogans are refused.
- Large bags, prams and cameras are not allowed in the casino areas.
- The Star's venues practise the responsible service of alcohol.
