Bringing a group: rooms, a room for the event, and dinner

1 · The rooms

Group reservations and sales at The Star Sydney go through starsales@star.com.au. For a small group, our desk can also ask for several rooms at once; tell us the number of rooms, the bed mix you need and whether some guests would be better in a residence with a kitchen.

2 · The event space

The Sydney Event Centre at 80 Pyrmont Street is run by Foundation Theatres, the company behind the Sydney Lyric and the Capitol Theatre. It describes itself as a flexible, large-scale venue for conferences, exhibitions, award nights, galas and weddings. Catering and hospitality there are by its exclusive partner, Doltone House, and function enquiries go to Doltone House directly.

3 · Dinner and celebrations

For birthdays, engagements and anniversaries, The Star offers private dining and group spaces at Sokyo, BLACK Bar & Grill and Cucina Porto, and group bookings at G&Tea, Rock Lily and Cherry. The celebrations enquiry form asks for a minimum of eight guests and whether anyone under 18 will attend. Restaurant and bar bookings for 12 or more people go through that enquiry rather than the normal booking system.

  Japanese in The Darling, with a sunken dining room and space for group celebrations; a shared Christmas menu is listed for December.

• BLACK Bar & Grill

  Steakhouse on Harbourside that takes birthday, anniversary and party groups.

• Cucina Porto

  Italian on Harbourside, the more relaxed option for a family celebration.

What we can and cannot do

We are a small independent desk, not an events company. We can ask for room blocks and pass on what the hotel offers; for the event space or catering, we will point you to Foundation Theatres or Doltone House rather than pretend to sell them. Use the form below with 'Celebration' or 'Business trip' selected, and write the size of the group in the notes.
