Pyrmont by day: four places within reach of the hotel

In daylight you see what Pyrmont really is: a working harbour that turned into a neighbourhood. Four places explain it, and all of them are a walk or a short light rail ride from the hotel.

1 · The new Sydney Fish Market

The new Sydney Fish Market officially opened on Monday 19 January 2026 at Blackwattle Bay, at 1 Bridge Road, Glebe. Infrastructure NSW describes a building by the Danish architects 3XN/GXN, with BVN and Aspect Studios, more than 6,000 square metres of public open space, and a waterfront promenade that links into the 15-kilometre foreshore walk from Rozelle Bay to Woolloomooloo.

From the hotel, take the L1 light rail from The Star stop. The market's own page lists three stops nearby: Wentworth Park (400 metres), Glebe (450 metres) and Bank Street (700 metres). The market is open daily from 7am to 10pm, with individual traders keeping their own hours. Route from the hotel by public transport.

2 · Pyrmont Bridge

The swing bridge between Pyrmont and the city opened on 28 June 1902 and replaced a timber bridge from 1857. The Dictionary of Sydney records that it was one of the first bridges in the world whose swing span was driven by electricity. It closed to traffic in 1981 when the Western Distributor opened, was saved from demolition, and reopened to pedestrians in 1988. It runs from Murray Street in Pyrmont to Market Street in the city.

3 · The Australian National Maritime Museum

At 2 Murray Street, on the Pyrmont side of the bridge, the museum is open daily from 10am to 4pm, with last boarding of its vessels at 3:10pm. In NSW school holidays the hours are 9:30am to 5pm; it is closed on Christmas Day. Walking route from the hotel.

4 · Pirrama Park

Further along Pirrama Road, the City of Sydney's harbourside park has an extensive playground, barbecue and picnic areas, outdoor exercise equipment, a café and toilets. The Stevedore Walk, the council says, marks the area's recent history. Walking route.

By day

Morning: market for breakfast oysters or a coffee, back on the L1, then the pool when the sun is high.

Midday: across Pyrmont Bridge to Darling Harbour, where free daytime sessions run on weekdays in November 2026, such as Rhythm N Bubs for small children every Wednesday.

By night

The same places change after dark. The fish market stays open until 10pm, which makes it a dinner option, not only a breakfast one.

The bridge is the night walk; see Pyrmont by night.

Back at the hotel

The lobby tea house G&Tea serves breakfast until 3pm, and the Level 5 pool is open until 9pm. If you are planning a full day, our 48-hour plan strings these together.
