Shows and events: the dates we could confirm
The best reason to sleep at The Star Grand is often a ticket. The Sydney Lyric, the Foundry Theatre and the Sydney Event Centre are all inside the complex. These dates come from the venues themselves.
At the Sydney Lyric
| Show | When (as published) | Source |
|---|---|---|
| A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical | First performance 14 November 2026 | sydneylyric.com.au |
| Moulin Rouge! The Musical | From March 2027 | sydneylyric.com.au |
| Matilda The Musical | Arrives 2028 | sydneylyric.com.au |
The Sydney Lyric opened in 1997 and was renovated in 2018 for $25 million. Its auditorium can be set to four sizes: 1,350, 1,500, 1,750 or 2,000 seats. It overlooks Pyrmont Bay and is run by Foundation Theatres, which also manages the Foundry Theatre, an intimate room inside the Lyric, and the Sydney Event Centre.
By day
On a matinee day, the trick is to treat the theatre as your afternoon and the harbour as your evening.
The Ticketmaster box office is open Monday to Friday 9am–5pm, and two hours before every show for collection and same-day sales.
By night
On an evening show, dinner first: Rumble on Harbourside sells itself as the pre-show option, and Sokyo and BLACK open at 5pm on weekends.
Afterwards, the hotel is a short walk indoors. That is the whole argument for staying here on a theatre night.
At the Sydney Event Centre
The Event Centre at 80 Pyrmont Street hosts concerts, talks, conferences and galas. Its own listing for November 2026 includes Kadim Al Sahir, with a third show added. Check the venue's site for exact nights and seating.
