Pyrmont by night: the same streets, with the lights on

At night the peninsula narrows to a few lit places: the theatre, the restaurants along the bay, the bars that stay open, and the bridge across to the city. You can reach all of them on foot.

Start early: dinner by the water

Harbourside, on the Pirrama Road side of The Star, holds BLACK Bar & Grill, Cucina Porto and Rumble, all on Level G, with dinner from 5pm on their opening nights. Sokyo is on Level G of The Darling. If you want to eat away from the complex, the fish market at Blackwattle Bay stays open until 10pm.

Then a show

The Sydney Lyric opens A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical on 14 November 2026; Moulin Rouge! The Musical follows from March 2027. The Event Centre has its own concert listings. The box office opens two hours before every show.

By day

In daylight the theatre is just an address on Pirrama Road, and the box office keeps office hours, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

In the afternoon you share the bridge with everyone walking between the city and Pyrmont.

By night

After dark the theatre sets the rhythm: the Harbourside restaurants pitch their early sittings at its audience.

After a show, the bridge is the walk to take, with the city lights over Cockle Bay.

Across the bridge on a Friday

Every Friday night in November 2026, Latin Nights By The Bay runs at Palm Grove in Darling Harbour, with free dance lessons, live music and DJs. From Friday 27 November to Sunday 6 December, Tumbalong Park becomes FORMA, an open-air music series over two weekends. On 31 December, Darling Harbour lists fireworks over Cockle Bay.

Late

Back inside The Star, Cherry stays open until 1am on Friday and Saturday and Jade Rabbit until 2am from Friday to Sunday; both are in the casino on Level 1 and are strictly 18+. Fat Noodle and the Sports Bar run all night. If you prefer quiet, the hotel's own lobby bar, G&Tea, closes at 8pm, and a walk along the water is free. Our after-dark page lists every bar's hours.
