Gambling help, and how to take a break
This site is about a hotel, not about gambling. But the hotel shares a building with a casino, so here is the information you or someone close to you might need.

Taking a break from The Star
Self-exclusion means asking a venue to refuse you entry for a period you choose. It is free. GambleAware NSW explains that for casinos the minimum period is 12 months. To self-exclude from The Star, you can:
- Approach a Casino Host at a Guest Service Desk on the main gaming floor or in the Sovereign, Oasis or Vantage gaming rooms.
- Approach a Security Officer at any entrance to the gaming areas, or any staff member.
- Contact The Star's Guest Support Managers on 0418 881 420 or at guestsupport.syd@star.com.au.
- Submit The Star's online voluntary exclusion form.
A GambleAware counsellor can explain the options and help you arrange it.
By day
Warning signs often show in daylight: money that was meant for something else, time that goes missing, a mood that depends on the last session.
If you notice them in someone you are travelling with, the helpline also supports family and friends.
By night
At night, the risks are tiredness and alcohol. Decide your limits before you go in, not once you are there.
The Star provides Player Activity Statements on request from its Guest Service Desk, through its app or website, which show what was actually spent.
Where this site stands
- We do not promote gambling, publish odds or tips, or mention offers to gamble.
- We do not cover online gambling in any form.
- We describe the casino only so hotel guests understand the building they are staying in: our casino page.
Where these facts come from
- GambleAware NSW: take a break and ban yourself
